Planning frustrations go beyond Wootton Parkway. Consider the Shady Grove Sector.
…Van Grack is right that these systems are interdependent. The deeper truth is that Montgomery County already has a plan that says so—and has had one for twenty years. The County doesn’t need another warning. It needs to publish a clear implementation timeline for Shady Grove, and the agencies responsible must continue to work together to get the plan done, identifying the funding and infrastructure barriers, and reporting progress publicly. This goal is in the very interests of Rockville as the city eyes annexation of the Shady Grove Metro, and likely even more portions of the Shady Grove Sector. The alternative is more Woottons: reactive fights over individual projects while the comprehensive vision that could have prevented them stays on the shelf and continues to erode the reputation of Montgomery County as a great place to live.
